OSCAR GUZMÁN started his guitar studies with Jorge Tomes "El Moro". Oscar Herrero, Mario Cortés, Manolo Franco, Jose Luis Postigo, etc. He then took lessons with the outstanding Sevillian guitarrist  Rafael Riqueni.

 

 His career as a guitar soloist began at an international level as he toured Europe and South America. Despite his youth, he has perfomed concerts in the 5 continents around the world.

All through these events, he has shared stage with many outstanding international-level guitarists such as Rafael Riqueni, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, Toto Blanke, Rudolf Dasek, Lucho Gonzales, Duo Progetto Avanti, Juan Falu, Miguel Angel Cherubito, Luigi Puddu, Maria Esther Guzman, Raphaella Smits, Jorge Cardoso, Alemao & Zezo Ribeiro, etc.

 

Performers as Paul Galbraith, Stepan Rak, Ana Vidovic, Vladimir Mikulka, Karin Schaupp, Denis Azabagic, Marcin Dylla and Paolo Pegoraro were also invited to these events.

 

He has visited a particular number of German cities, performing in solo concerts. These cities include Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig, Potsdam, Neubrandenburg, Dessau, Cottbus, Radebeul, Halberstadt, Thale, Hagenow, etc.

 

In March 1999 he obtained second place in "VI International Guitar Interpretation Contest", in Cagliari (Italy). In May 2003 he was awarded 2nd place in the "IV Concurso de Guitarra Flamenca de Alhaurin de la Torre" in Malaga (Spain) and he was finalist at the III Contest of Flamenco Guitar for Concert "Campos de Guitarra", which took place in Gran Teatro of Cordoba city in November 2003.

 

In July 2007 he was awarded 2nd Place in the II International Flamenco Guitar Contest ‘Niño Ricardo’, which took place in Murcia (Spain). The jury in this cintest consisted of outstanding flamenco world representatives as guitarrists ‘Serranito’ and Carlos Piñana, and writers as Felix Grande and Norberto Torres.

 

In August 2000 he was invited to perform a guitar concert in the "V Flamenco Festival im Sommergarten des Pfefferberg" in Berlin (Germany) where he had the special collaboration of Pepe de Lucia.

 

In December 2000 he offered several guitar concerts in the cities of Cagliari and Tortoli (Italy) for the "VIII Festival Grandi Eventi Ogliastra 2000".

 

He collaborated in Pedro Sierra's group with whom he performed in various theaters and events such as "XII Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla" (September 2002) and the Flamenco Cycle "El Flamenco que Viene" (Seville, November 2002).

 

In December 2002 he participated as second guitar of acknowledged flamenco singer Ana Reverte in the 'Palau de la Musica' in Barcelona.

 

That same month he collaborated in four presentations at the "Spier Summer Festival" in Cape Town (South Africa) together with acknowledged flamenco singer Talegón de Córdoba.

 

In August 2003 he offered a successful concert in ‘Fabritio Caroso da Sermoneta Guitar Festival’ in Fornia (Italy).  Some of the most important guitarrists of our times where invited to this festival, as Paul Galbraith, Stepan Rak, Ana Vidovic, Marcin Dylla, Vladimir Mikulka and Stein Eric Olsen.

 

Oscar Guzman performed in Angel and Rafael Peralta's "Andalucia a Caballo" show in Malaga city and Puerto de Santa Maria in August 2003, and in Arles (France) in September 2003.

 

He has accompanied cantaor flamenco Jesus Heredia several times, they have both shared stage in events as 'Centro Cultural de la Junta de Andalucia' (Jaen) or the 'Auditorio Cultural of Mairena del Alcor', during an  Homage to cantaor Antonio Mairena.

He has collaborated with other flamenco groups in countries such as Morocco (July 2002), Malta (December 2003) and Poland (July 2006).
 

In December 2006 he performed in two concerts in Lima (Peru) with the special collaborations of cantaor Rafael de Utrera.

 

He has had a very hectic concert activity between  2004 and 2008. He was invited to important festivals in countries as Cyprus, Turkey, Austtalia, Canada, Czech Republic, Ukrane, Itlay, Holland, Eslovakia, Macedonia, United States, Polland, Iran, Bielorus, Austria, Hungary, Peru, Greece, Swizterland, Montenegro, etc.

 

Oscar Guzman has received numerous praises and coments from audiences and press wherever he has taken his art and his guitar.
